I think the Math. Ed dept is very diverse and it is different depending on your program. I just got my masters and it was quite an experience. See there are Newton Fellows in my dept which represent about 30 students, basically most of the masters students are in this close knit group of "kids". I'll come visit your lj soon and tell you more but I am excited to do my phd there. I like the professors and many of the older doctoral students. It is definitely an interesting and exciting place to be... nothing like undergrad. Talk to you later.
